Signs in Mongkok

I took some pictures of shop signs while walking through Mongkok and visiting the different markets. It always amazes me to see the sheer number of different signs – some in English, others in Chinese. All in bright colours trying to attract as much attention as possible.

It’s funny how there are always some areas with lots of signs – Mongkok is one part of the city, then on the Island side you’ve got the gleaming lights of Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. In between those busy streets are always a fewer quieter streets, but almost every shop or restaurant is trying to attract customers with the old-fashioned sign.

Those signs look great at night time too. Especially those where the letters glow in different colours – but I’ve not yet mastered my camera to get these kind of pictures right.

I will need more practice, clearly. So for now, let’s start with the daylight pictures and then add a few nighttime ones over the next months.
