MoonTrekker 2012

I signed up to volunteer at this year’s MoonTrekker, which is a night race in Lantau. It supports the Room To Read charity.

The race has two distances, the Moonlit 26 and the Sunrise 40. Both races begin on Friday night on the 19th October, in Mui Wo, on Lantau Island and finish at the Cheung Sha Beach a couple of hours later. As the name suggest, the hike is at nighttime and takes you up to Lantau Peak, where you can see the sunrise (if you make it in time).

The race is taking place the fourth time this year, and the Hong Kong hiking group on MeetUp is supporting it. I decided to help out too, just to get a feel for it and who knows – I might be interested to do it in the following year. For this year, all places are taken. But if still want to come and help out, email info@moontrekker.com. You can help out at the checkpoints, cheer for tired runners, hand out water, fruit and snacks and just
