Just two weeks until Christmas and there are Christmas decorations everywhere in Hong Kong. One of my favourite ones is in the IFC shopping mall in Central, close to the ferry piers. This year’s theme is “Fantasy Forest” and on the main stage is a gigantic pair of reindeers with lots of trees surrounding them. That’s too cheesy for my taste.
What I like better is the smaller display close to City Super and Club Monaco. I love that it is so subtle and much more artistic than others. It’s not the typical red, gold and green trees or reindeers, but actually a very creative display of fantastic fantasy dresses and white chipmunks and rabbits.
The overall colour scheme is white and blue, so it does feel wintery and cold – no wonder that some of the small animals at the foot of the installation are wearing bright green jumpers. I love how elegant this display looks! I wonder if the dresses are meant to symbolize modern Christmas trees made out of textiles?
Throughout the IFC there are a few more installations including cosy armchairs that lean to the side and have chipmunks and rabbits sitting on them or surrounding them. I’ll need to see if I can take a picture of those the next time I walk past them!
