After the really creative and fantastic Christmas decorations in the IFC, the ones in the Landmark shopping mall are quite traditional and boring. There are some handbags and shoes ‘frozen’ in plastic cubes that resemble ice cubes – which are very strange and just emphasizes Hong Kong’s fascination with shopping.
But the one that really stands out is in the centre of the mall, a mountain covered in snow with a small cable car running to the top of the hill and back.
The ice wonderland is themed ‘Zero Degrees’ and offers traditional winter festivities (for example from Dec 19 to 21 there will be a pianist playing and singing classical and Christmas pieces) and ice-carving activities – but to be honest, all I would like to do is ride the small cable car. Unfortunately it is just for display and way too small to fit humans.
- The Landmark is at 15 Queen’s Road Central and you almost can’t miss it, just enter next to the Mandarin Oriental or Harvey Nichols
- From Nov 29 to Dec 26, spend HK$10,000 or above to receive an exclusive reward – this could be vodka, ice cream or a crystal ice bucket
