I’ve been to the flower market and bird market in Kowloon a lot of times – but I’ve not been to the goldfish market that frequently. Surprisingly, it is just on the opposite street of the flower market, so not actually far away.
The Hong Kong Goldfish Market is a fascinating street crowded with little stands and shops with an incredible amount and variety of fish, lots of color in the tanks and the little fish bags set up in front of the stores.
The tanks in the shops contain much more than goldfish – for example, you can find colourful exotic tropical specimens, seahorses, tortoises and jelly-fish here.
The shops also sell food, rocks, plants, bowls, tanks and every conceivable accessory to keep a fish happy.
- The market is at Tung Choi Street in Mong Kok in Kowloon
- It is open daily from 10am to 6pm, some of the shops stay open until 9pm
- Best way to get there is to take the MTR to Prince Edward and use exit B2
