Current art exhibitions in Sheung Wan

While I was strolling through Sheung Wan I looked around to see what exhibitions are on. Unfortunately my favourite Cat Street Gallery was closed, so I could only glance at it through the window.

The current exhibition (until October 13) is by a Australian artist, called Janet Laurence. She combines scientific research with art, I found these glass cylinders and containers very interesting to look at.

Next door is Galerie nec, which was just wrapping up Marie Torbensdatter Hermann’s exhibition, ‘A Gentle Blow to the Rock’. It was also closed, unfortunately. But at least I could steal a few glimpses through the window.

Finally, I was more lucky and the Blindspot Gallery (24-26A Aberdeen Street, Central), which showed the work from South Ho Siu Nam, was open. It was the final day of the exhibition, which featured photography and watercolour artwork.

South Ho took quite boring pictures of Tin Shui Wai – lots of concrete towers, streets and grey skies. He filled the sky in between with uniformly sized blocks of different colours, using the paintbrushes left by his late father.
