Ok, I admit it – I’m a little obsessed with PMQ. It’s such a great building and I love that it houses so many different shops. Even if not all of them have been opened, I walked around for two hours checking out the different outlets. The plan is that by mid-June 2014 all 100+ shops are open, yesterday there were about 40 that I visited.
The PMQ compromises two main buildings namely H (Hollywood) and S (Staunton), which are named after their adjacent roads. They are linked on the fourth floor by the roof terrace to encourage circulation between them.
I started by walking through the H building. At its ground floor will be shops and restaurants, including Levain Bakery, Tai Lung Fung (a great little bar in Wan Chai) and ABC Cooking Studio.
On the second floor are different interior design shops, but also a bookstore and 794729 metalwork, which makes interesting jewellery.
Stitch Paperie sells beautiful handmade cards – with stitches. It’s on the third floor of the H building.
A few shops further down the corridor is flying zacchinis, who sells crafted leather accessories – and a few t-shirts. I bought two for Patrick, so watch out, he might wear them on one of my pictures soon! Flying zaccinis is an interesting brand, it is named after the brothers that became famous for being human cannonballs!
Floors 5-7 in the H building are not yet open to the public. They will be home to designers in-residence as well as eateries, such as Isono and Vasco Spanish dining.
On the other side, building S, will be some big name stores too. Vivienne Tam and G.O.D will be on the ground floor.
A large crowd was already gathered around Phoenix Sweets – as the name says, the shop is selling sweets – and it had some magnificent looking cupcakes on sale. Judging from the eating people around me, they must have been very tasty!
Not open yet, but hopefully soon is % Arabica Coffee Roaster & Farm. They currently have one shop in Discovery Bay North and I love that they are selling coffee beans from a number of different countries – believe it or not, even from China!
Harrison Wong on the second floor has some stylish clothing for men – maybe one day I can get Patrick to have a look there!
Soon there will also be a Herman Miller store in May – maybe I can get my beloved Eames RAR chair from there?
Delication on the fourth floor had a very interesting shop window – lots of green plants in glass vases and bulbs. Interesting, eye? I wonder what they will be selling, apart from that!
The final shop for today is Home * Works, which will open its doors soon – I’m curious already!
So as you can tell, these are just a few shops – and I’m sure I’ll be back to PMQ once more shops are open!

I have been to Hong Kong lots of times. Where is PMQ?
It’s on Aberdeen Street – between Staunton Street and Hollywood Road. So very central and easy to find! Just a few steps off the mid-levels escalator.
