Unidentified flying objects will hit Hong Kong’s skyline next Sunday, when the second Red Bull Flugtag is in town (the first one was back in 2010).
It’s a free event to watch both creative and crazy flying contraptions to soar into the sky – or more likely to plummet into the sea.
The event takes place from 1pm to 6pm at the New Central Harbourfront (next to Pier 10) on Sunday May 11. The rules are simple, all planes must be human-powered and each team has 30 seconds for take-off from the six-metre-high flight deck. They will be judged according to the distance flown, their creativity and overall performance. The winner gets a trip to the Red Bull Air Race in Malaysia.
40 competing teams and five corporate sponsor teams have been chosen from the 284 entries and up to 50,000 people are expected to attend. Here are some of the teams that will participate – you can find out more here.
