What happens when you put 1,600 papier-mâché pandas on a plane? They travel to Hong Kong! Of course!
As part of the worldwide tour to create awareness for WWF and the plight of Pandas, French artist Paulo Grangeon crafted 1,600 papier-mâché pandas from recycled materials. 1,600 pandas does not sound like a lot especially when you consider that there are approximately 1,596 alive in the wild!
They have already popped up in cities including Paris, Rome, Berlin, and Taipei:
The pandas will be displayed in more than 10 landmarks around Hong Kong including the Hong Kong International Airport, the giant Tian Tan Buddha, Tsing Ma Bridge, the Sha Tin Racecourse and the Hong Kong Coliseum before ending at PMQ on Aberdeen Street in Central (this is where the famous night market took place).
