Do you have any plans for tonight? If not, head over to Tai Hang to experience the fire dragon dance, which is a main part of the celebrations of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
It is a unique celebration, where the fire dragon is built from straw and covered with joss sticks which are lit at night. The fire dragon then parades through the streets of Tai Hang for three days and three nights – I went to see it last year and really enjoyed it!
This year’s dance is held on September 7, 8 and 9, 2014 and starts at 7:30 pm – at this time the dragon gets set up, the dance will be later. But to get a good seat, you need to get there early!
On the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival (Sep 8), the Tai Hang fire dragon dance parade extends to Victoria Park during the annual Urban Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival. Here’s the link to the official website and the Hong Kong Tourism Bureau.
