So far I’ve not made it to the Bukchon Hanok Village – the closest I got was the backstreets of Samcheong-dong. But that was already very interesting, because there are several old Hanok houses in the area.
This is where the aristocratic classes lived during the Joseon Dynasty. Certain hanoks are still resident occupied while most of it were converted into chic galleries, restaurants, cafés and accessory shops.
The ones I’ve walked past were all private houses, and the whole area was very quiet. I was the only one walking around the streets, taking pictures – and nodding to a few locals that were out and about on the streets.
