I am back in Hong Kong… and I’ve missed a lot of political activity, but also the start of the Beerfest 2014 in Hong Kong. It kicked off at the Marco Polo Hotel on October 17, 2014 and will run until November 8, 2014.
The real Oktoberfest is already in the past – and I’ve been lucky to visit it briefly, after my trip to South Korea.
So let me use my real Munich Oktober 2014 pictures in this post… as I don’t have any plans to go to the German Beerfest 2014.
I am sure it will be fun, but it’s not the real thing – and what I enjoy most at the Munich Oktoberfest won’t be available here: Steckerlfisch (grilled Mackerel), fresh Riesenbrezln (huge pretzels, freshly baked) and gebrannte Mandeln (sugar-coated roasted almonds) for dessert. Plus of course, the best beer ever: Augustiner. Their special Oktoberfest draught beer is so tasty, not even the bottled-version comes anywhere near it!
But don’t fret – you can still enjoy German food, drinks and music at the Marco Polo Hotel. They will prepare German food, serve Lowenbraeu Oktoberfest beer and music will be played by a German band called The Notenhobler.
Where: Viewing Platform, Level 6, Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui
When: Now until 8 November, 6pm
How Much: Sun-Thurs $140, Fri-Sat $240, includes one free beer
