Earlier this year it looked like the first Color Run in Hong Kong was never going to happen – it’s a 5km race with no winners except that runners are pelted with coloured cornstarch.
It has been postponed and postponed and postponed – until in November the organisers announced it would finally take place. The race date of December 7, 2014 was finally announced. The only downside is: the race will take place at the Asia World Expo, so not really in the city!
The registration opened a month earlier, and within hours (if not minutes) all slots were filled up. So the only way to participate now, is to join the spectators and watchers at the run. That’s my plan, it sounds like a fun event (I just have to get my phone or camera wrapped up carefully so the colour won’t damage it!).
The programme is as follows:
09:00 Gates Open!
09:30 Warm up Session
10:00 Flag off – Color Runners will be released in waves
11:30 Last Flag off
The Airport Express will offer special fares for the day:
– From Hong Kong / Kowloon Station – HKD 57
– From Tsing Yi Station – HKD 42
– From Airport Station – HKD 5 (one way)
– From AsiaWorld-Expo Station (Outbound) – HKD 57
Or you can also take a special bus from the MTR Tung Chung for 5.8 HKD one way.
