This year’s Lunar New Year Lantern Exhibition runs from Feb 12 to Mar 22 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza (which is in front of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in TST). The lanterns will be lit up from 6.30pm to 11pm every night.
I have not managed to visit at night time yet, but I went during the day (as I was visiting the Hong Kong Museum of Arts, which always hosts interesting exhibitions – at the moment this includes a show about Tong King-sum who his famous for his woodwork) and I have to say it was not as nice and beautiful as I had seen it in previous years.
This year it is very cheesy – the sheep look like a kid’s drawing and there are not that many sculptures in total. Just a handful each, and some are just on top of some columns or stilts. I did not find it spectacular.
Granted, I went in day time, and maybe I should have gone at night. Maybe it would have been more enjoyable then! Did anyone go at nighttime, was it worth it?
