Coinciding with Art Central and Art Basel, The Landmark shopping mall is launching ‘Be Inspired in Central’ in collaboration with ten galleries. The show features artworks valued at over HKD 140 million and includes works by Claude Monet, Marc Chagall, Zao Wou-ki and Zeng Fanzhi.
What is so unique about this show is that the artwork has uniquely beein insalled in a suspended dome that sits in the centre of the mall. The artwork is so close, but it is not reachable. It sits high above the audience and their are binoculars installed so visitors can examine the artwork in detail.
The dome was designed by William Lim (he is well-known for his large-scale art and architectural installations and has participated in the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2006 and 2010 – I know him best from the huge fish he created for the Lantern Wonderland 2011) and is made out of thousands of luminescent plexiglass rounds that sparkle and glitter throughout the shopping mall. But of course, the real highlights are the artworks that are displayed.
The show is on until March 31 so you still have a few days to go and see it for yourself.
Lovely exhibition.
