The current thematic exhibition at the City Gallery is all about the Peak Tram. It explores the memories of early commuters, Tram staff, the architect of old Peak Tower, as well as The Peak Tram’s lesser-known stories.
Five different types of tram car have been running on the track – which is still the same since its 1888 launch.
However, the terminus has changed – on both ends of the track. Unfortunately it changed for the worst, the terminus house at the bottom is very ugly compared to its original design, don’t you agree?
I also prefer the old Peak Tower that used to sit on top of the Peak – the new one is too big and is much more a shopping mall than an actual lookout point.
The exhibition is small, only in one room – but it is free of charge. So whenever you have a few minutes to spare and are close to the Hong Kong City Hall you should check it out.
It runs from 2 April 2015 to 6 July 2015 and is open from 10am to 6pm everyday.
