Artist Ric Tse and his Legography

I had read on Young Post SCMP and Hong Kong Wrong about the artist Ric Tse before, but it was not until my visit to the Affordable Art Fair that I actually paid attention to his artwork.

He calls it Legography, and this already tells you what his work is about.

He uses the famous yellow LEGO people to recreate typical Hong Kong sceneries.

Some shots reflect a typical real-life scene (mainland Chinese on a shopping trip, a visit to the Happy Valley race course and even the elderly ladies beating shoes to get rid of bad luck) while others relate to a one-off situation, such as the Rubberduck visit to Hong Kong in June 2013 or are even political in nature, such as the July 4 memorial.

If you missed the Affordable Art Fair 2014, you can visit his blog or check out other blogs, such as this one for example.
