What better way is there to spend a lazy Sunday with friends, good food, a big BBQ and lots of sunshine? None. So we decided to return to The Grill at the Grand Hyatt, which is located on the 11th floor next to the pool.
It is a great open space in the middle of busy Wan Chai, but you don’t hear the street noise or notice the hustle and bustle in the streets below. In fact, it is really relaxing – if you don’t mind a few kids jumping and running around the pool.
The Grill serves a la card food too – but it’s best to order the Weekend Buffet which includes fresh salads, char-grilled fish (prawns, squid, salmon) and meat (lamb, steak, sausages, beef) plus lots of side dishes including the most amazing potatoes (according to my friend Monica) and a fantastic cauliflower salad that’s been made with the typical Coronation Chicken sauce (but without the chicken).
The BBQ items are freshly prepared throughout the brunch – so if you want to have a fresh burger or freshly grilled pineapple, you can have it. The service is very attentive and friendly and it is a great experience. What better way is there to spend a Sunday if you aren’t at a beach for a BBQ?
The buffet runs from 11.30 to 15.00 and costs 458 HKD per person. This includes water, coffee, tea and orange juice. If you want to add sparkling wine, beer or wine it costs 170 HKD extra (all prices subject to 10% service charge).
Will I go there again? Yes – once in a while. It’s one of the best places for an easy, relaxed brunch if you like BBQ meat and fish. Of course, you can’t have it every week, but a few times a year should be fine.
