Fish lanterns in Sheung Wan

I know – the mid-autumn festival is officially over (and it has been long gone, since two weeks already). However, the other day when I was strolling through Sheung Wan, I saw these colorful lanterns hanging in the entrance of a residence building.

They looked fun – nice and colorful against the dark colours and modern design of the lobby. It was a nice contrast, it could have been an art installation!

I love that the lanterns resemble fish – which are very meaningful to Chinese people. They represent the aspect of wealth but are also associated with fidelity and good companionship, because many fish swim in pairs.
