On Wednesday evening we had a quick, ad hoc dinner at Al Dente on the way to the Wan Chai Ferry Pier (and it was surprisingly good, something that I can’t say for all the Italian restaurants I’ve tried in Hong Kong) and then we listened to ‘New Year in Vienna‘ by the fantastic Philharmonic Orchestra, before we headed back to the Island side. It was way too crowded already in TST, so we took the MTR back to Wan Chai and walked to the Hong Kong Exhibition Centre and Golden Bauhinia Square.
There were already lots of people and we were quite late at 11pm, but we found a space to enjoy some of the view (unfortunately part of it was blocked by the palm trees in front of us) but it was much more spacious and convenient for us than staying on the Kowloon side.
The fireworks lasted just a few minutes but were spectacular as always – lots of sparkles, big bangs and fireworks in shapes of satellites, circles and hearts. A great (and free) performance – after that we just walked back to Wan Chai and enjoyed a bottle of champagne – a nice and relaxed way to start the new year. How did you start yours? All the best for 2015 everyone!
